ANOTHER TIME TO COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS
The human Calendar as written by man is closing its last pages for the year 2020; and thus calls for reflection on life’s journey so far on our individual lanes.
Our individual mind is quick to remember the disappointments, the violence, betrayal, the hunger, needs and desires not met, aches, pains, illness, bereavement and more tales of woes as our minds go on and on counting the negatives. Sometimes we may need a prompt to remember the blessings, which are greater especially when you count those blessings received in disguise.
So let’s repeat the reflective exercise and slowly count our blessings on a scale of number 1 to number 10, starting with:
1) Being able to breath free air and be alive for self, family and friends.
2) Being able to love someone and having someone who loves you, even if it’s only one person.
3) Being able to smile and laugh sometimes within this year.
4) Being able to make others, family and friends smile and laugh sometimes.
5) Not being naked and in the street with no shelter.
6) Being able to share your joyful or painful thoughts with even one person.
7) Being able to feel and touch things around you.
8) Having the ability to think and plan whether you succeed or not.
9) Having the ability to know your strengths and limitations.
10) Knowing you are created with love by a supernatural Being; Almighty God, who sees and knows everything.
Often, we take these blessings for granted and appreciate them not, because they are not physical items like money in your wallet. To have small or lots of money is good, however it is not as important and essential as being loved and in love while still alive.
We need to be more Spiritually minded and focus on more important things beyond the physical items around us. To do this brings us closer to God, makes us appreciate God’s goodness and helps us understand the reason for our existence.
So, while counting the physical blessings at Christmas and at the last days of 2020, remember that no matter how the journey has been; the Love of God for you made your blessings greater as always.
Be thankful!
